St. Louis Symphony Orchestra announces wide-ranging updates to 2025/26 season, with programs designed for all ages
Updates includes:
Details for six film presentations with scores performed live to picture
Holidays and special concerts
Three Concerts for Kids programs, introducing children as young as three to symphonic music; plus a Concert for Teens, a new offering aimed at expanding offerings for families with tweens and teens

(June 17, 2025, St. Louis, MO) – Today, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra (SLSO) announced additional programming for its 2025/26 season, the orchestra’s 146th and seventh with Music Director Stéphane Denève. In addition to previously announced concerts, today’s updates to the 25/26 season includes concerts designed for all members of the family, from the youngest listeners to tweens and teens. Updates include:
- Details for popular film presentations;
- Holiday and special concerts;
- Three Concerts for Kids, introducing music to children ages 3-10;
- Concert for Teens, a new concert offering designed for teenagers;
Programming for the entire family underscores the SLSO’s commitment to offering concerts for a wide variety of ages and interests.
All concerts will take place at the Jack C. Taylor Music Center (718 N. Grand Blvd.), which will reopen in September 2025 following a two-year expansion and renovation of Powell Hall, the orchestra’s home since 1968. The transformed venue, designed by acclaimed architecture firm Snøhetta, better serves audiences and artists by improving all aspects of the visitor experience, from improved safety and accessibility measures to added amenities on all levels, and a renovation of the internationally recognized concert hall.

Films with Live Score
Popular presentations of films with the SLSO performing the score live returns for six programs, with three programs performed by the orchestra for the first time alongside three returning favorites.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s StoneTM, score by John Williams (October 3-5, 2025)
Relive the film that started one of the most popular film franchises. The SLSO performs John Williams’ iconic score live as the wand chooses the wizard, a troll runs amok, and mirrors hold magical powers. Harry, Ron, Hermione, and their friends return to the Powell Hall big screen and enchant St. Louis again.

The Lion King, score by Hans Zimmer (November 15-16, 2025)
Experience the original animated classic roaring from the big screen, as the SLSO performs Hans Zimmer’s Oscar-winning musical score, led by Assistant Conductor Samuel Hollister. Follow Simba as he journeys from a wide-eyed cub to his destined role as King of the Pride Lands in this joyful tale that won the Academy Award for Best Original Score. As part of the SLSO’s commitment to expanded accessibility, a matinee performance is designed to be sensory conscious.

Home Alone, score by John Williams (December 27-28, 2025)
A true holiday favorite, this comedy classic features renowned composer John Williams’ delightful score. When the McCallisters leave for vacation, they forget one thing: Kevin! The Wizard of Oz, score by Herbert Stothart (January 30-February 1, 2026)
The timeless 1939 film classic The Wizard of Oz returns to Powell Hall’s big screen with the SLSO. Join Dorothy and her friends as she follows the Yellow Brick Road to Oz and faces the Wicked Witch of the West, accompanied by Herbert Stothart’s Academy Award-winning score.

NEWLY ANNOUNCED—Amadeus, music by W.A. Mozart (February 13-14, 2026)
Miloš Forman’s Academy Award-winning phenomenon Amadeus comes to the SLSO for the first time as the orchestra and St. Louis Symphony Chorus team up to perform some of W.A. Mozart’s most celebrated works, led by Music Director Stéphane Denève. This sumptuous period epic tells the gripping tale of Vienna court composer Antonio Salieri and his rivalry with the brilliant young Mozart in a soaring celebration of astonishing musical achievement.

Marvel Infinity Saga in Concert (May 1-3, 2026)
Iconic moments from the Marvel Cinematic Universe come to life in this epic on-screen journey that includes 23 films in one momentous concert experience. From the earliest days of Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor to the next wave of Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy, recapture the excitement of Earth’s mightiest defenders as the SLSO accompanies each with heroic music.

Holidays and specials for the whole family
The SLSO offers a wide range of concerts that present symphonic music in a variety of contexts from holidays to rock, jazz, gospel, and more. These festive concerts capture the joy of the season as the SLSO joins together with its choruses and guest artists to make magic. Specials and holidays are designed for all members of the family.
Chuck Berry’s Birthday Bash (October 17-18, 2025)
Celebrate the legendary Chuck Berry’s birthday with hits from throughout the star’s career performed by the SLSO, his hometown orchestra. Arrangements of Berry’s songs, featuring his distinctive take on R&B and signature guitar-playing style, are accompanied by exclusive video footage and interviews. This concert is part of CHUCK100, organized by the Berry family and Isalee Music Publishing.
IN UNISON Christmas (December 18-19, 2025)
Ring in the holiday season with a joyous performance by gospel legends the Clark Sisters, the SLSO, and the IN UNISON Chorus. This annual concert blends gospel, jazz, and beloved holiday classics that creates lasting memories for years to come.
Mercy Holiday Celebration (December 20-21 & 23, 2025)
Powell Hall is one of the most magical places in St. Louis during the holidays. Join St. Louis native Kennedy Holmes and the SLSO for performances of beloved seasonal classics and exciting new twists. This cherished annual tradition brings festive cheer to the stage, and includes matinee options perfect for every member of the family.
Lift Every Voice (February 27, 2026)
The IN UNISON Chorus, a chorus that performs and preserves music from the African diaspora, joins the SLSO for a joyful celebration of Black History Month that explores the variety and depth of Black musical expression, featuring celebrated vocalist and choral composer Rosephanye Dunn Powell.

NEWLY ANNOUNCED—Concerts for Kids
Concerts for Kids—a staple of SLSO programming for decades—return in the 25/26 season with a trio of programs. These concerts are inclusive of individuals with sensory sensitivities, with accommodations provided so that everyone may enjoy the experience of live orchestral music. Prior to all Concerts for Kids, the SLSO and Symphony Volunteer Association host engaging pre-concert activities.
Howl at Powell (October 19, 2025)
The SLSO welcomes families for a spooktacular concert filled with playful melodies, ghostly tunes, and fun surprises. With enchanting music and a few tricks and treats, this not-so-scary Halloween celebration is a magical way to enjoy the season.

Giraffes Can’t Dance (May 16, 2026—two concerts)
Designed for the youngest listeners, Giraffes Can’t Dance follows Gerald the Giraffe as he overcomes challenges, discovers his talents, and finds music that inspires him to dance. The SLSO brings Gerald’s heartwarming journey to life with a playful performance where kids are invited to make music and find their own beat.
