Legacy Circle E-News, March 2026
Together, we have launched an extraordinary new chapter for the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. With the opening of the Jack C. Taylor Music Center, we are celebrating our revitalized home while expanding our impact across the region.
This has been a season of bold artistry and unforgettable performances. We proudly presented the world premieres of two SLSO commissions: James Lee III’s Fanfare for Universal Hope and Kevin Puts’s House of Tomorrow. We welcomed internationally acclaimed guest artists, including Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Augustin Hadelich, and Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider. New concert experiences, including intimate chamber and recital performances curated by visiting artists, have invited audiences into a closer connection with the music. We look forward to sharing more inspiring performances that connect and uplift our community in the months ahead.
Welcoming students back to Powell Hall has been a highlight of our return to Powell Hall. In November, more than 6,000 students attended Wild Symphony, a musical portrait of the animal kingdom, brought to life with dancers from Ballet 314. In January, we presented Beethoven 7 Unpacked, our first concert experience designed specifically for high school students, an important step in cultivating the next generation of music lovers.
Our commitment to community engagement continues to grow. In January, we partnered with St. Louis Dance Theatre for a special performance at the St. Louis Art Museum marking the closing of Anselm Kiefer: Becoming the Sea. The program featured music by Pavel Haas, a composer killed during the Holocaust, as dance, visual art, and music intertwined to explore how personal experience and history shape artistic expression. In February, the SLSO presented Come As You Are—a conversation with saxophonist Steven Banks—a community engagement initiative designed to make classical music concerts more accessible and representative of the diverse communities they serve.
As a Legacy Circle member, your support of the SLSO ensures that we can continue to be a thriving home for music, an innovator in music education for students of all ages, and a connector for our community. Thank you for your support and for leaving a lasting legacy that will inspire generations to come.
