Follow Along with the Powell Hall Expansion and Renovation

Powell Hall is one of America’s most acoustically renowned and visually stunning concert halls—and home to your St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. We’re renovating and expanding the 98-year-old building to preserve and enhance our civic treasure for generations to come.

This project is inspired by you: our goal is to provide greater access to music, an even more welcoming and comfortable experience for all, and a creative hub that helps us build connections through the power of music.

The revitalized Powell Hall will open in 2025 to coincide with the building’s centennial. We look forward to celebrating with you.

What was once the Powell Hall Box Office will get a new life when the Jack C. Taylor Music Center opens in September 2025. This spring, construction crews are transforming the former Box Office space into a café and concessions area, one of six planned for the renovated and expanded venue.

Crew work to frame what was once the Powell Hall Box Office for its future life as a café.

Framing work continued in April to reconfigure the space for the café. Once complete, the café will feature a U-shaped bar, freestanding tables and chairs, as well as additional seating and drink rails near the Wightman Grand Foyer and iconic former entry doors.

The new café will also have access to an outdoor terrace with seating available before or after an event.
