Join the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra for an evening of conversation with acclaimed composer Carlos Simon.

Known for music that blends classical traditions with influences from jazz, gospel, and expressive styles, Simon’s work spans orchestral compositions, chamber music, and film scores. His music reflects a deep connection to history, community, and the power of storytelling through sound.

In this informal gathering, Simon will share how his background and musical influences shape his creative voice. The conversation will also explore his latest work, including the world premiere of Double Concerto Suite with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, as well as the orchestra’s recent performance of Coltrane 100: Legacy, curated and arranged by Simon in honor of the lasting impact of John Coltrane.

This evening offers a unique opportunity to get to know the composer behind the music and engage in dialogue about how music can play a meaningful civic role in our communities.
