About this Concert

The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra’s annual toast to the holidays blends the timeless and traditional with contemporary classics and fresh takes on tunes from the seasonal songbook. Experience all the magic of the holidays with your SLSO and the St. Louis Symphony Chorus, from cozy fireside ballads to poignant carols and the sound of sleigh bells—and perhaps even a visit from Santa Claus! There’s nowhere quite like Powell Hall during the holidays, so bring your family and friends to make memories that will last a lifetime.

- This concert marks St. Louis Symphony Chorus director Erin Freeman’s first time conducting the Mercy Holiday Celebration. Freeman has said attending Christmas concerts as a child was a huge influence on her: “They’re the whole reason I’m in the business.”
- The 26/27 season sees the St. Louis Symphony Chorus celebrate its 50th anniversary. The SLSC has performed at Carnegie Hall and a range of other iconic American concert venues in the half-century since it was founded by Music Director Jerzy Semkow during the 1976/77 season.
- SLSO musicians have a tradition of hosting get-togethers over Irish coffees, eggnog, and cookies around the Mercy Holiday Celebration. The tradition was pioneered by the orchestra’s beloved former principal keyboardist, the late Barbara Liberman.
