Anne Newcomer

Alternate
St. John Paul II Preparatory School

Anne Newcomer is a sophomore at St. John Paul II Preparatory School. She is looking forward to joining the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra for the first time as this year’s alternate harpist.

Anne discovered her love of music when she began piano lessons at the age of five. She spent many years studying piano with Mary Somoygi, and in 2023 began lessons with Donna Vince at Webster University.  At the age of nine, encouraged by her love of piano, she began harp lessons with Danielle Williams. She then studied Celtic harp for several years with Eileen Gannon, and in 2022 began studying pedal harp under Megan Stout. Anne has played with many different musicians, choirs, and ensemble groups.  She particularly loves performing for church, children’s choirs, and senior living communities, sharing her love of music with others. She has received a Superior Plus rating in Federation piano competition and has achieved first and second place rankings in the solo Strings and O’Carolan tune categories of the SLIA Feis Ceoil. She also studies and performs on the organ and has recently begun to learn bodhran (Irish drum).

Outside of her passion for music, Anne likes to spend time with her family and two dogs, discuss chemistry, learn math tricks, do macramé, and volunteer to teach and babysit children. She is especially grateful to her family for their love and encouragement, her music instructors for all the support they provide, and her teachers and friends for the positive atmosphere at her school. Above all, she is grateful to the Lord God for his many gifts and blessings!
