Bethany Lai

Alternate
Clayton High School

Bethany Lai began learning piano under the tutelage of the late Laura Schindler. She has performed in various ensembles at the Community Music School of Webster University, including the Preparatory Program and the Young People’s Symphonic Orchestra.

In addition to playing piano, Bethany serves as the Digital Editor-in-Chief of Clayton High School’s student newspaper, The Globe, and the Editor-in-Chief of the literary arts magazine, The WORKS. She has received awards for both poetry and journalism, including a best-in-Missouri award for her sports reporting and a Scholastic Gold Key for her exploration of how love is expressed in different cultures.

Bethany is deeply grateful to Mrs. Schindler, Sam Moraes (her violin teacher), and Shen Wen for their guidance throughout her musical journey. Her other interests include developmental psychology and cultural anthropology.
