Youth Orchestra
Brody Van Wave
Brody Van Wave, age 17, is a senior at Fort Zumwalt North High School. This is Brody’s third season with the Saint Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra and his seventh year playing the cello. He currently studies with Catherine Lehr-Ramos and is extremely grateful for her mentorship and support.
In addition to the SLSYO, Brody has participated in several esteemed ensembles, including the Missouri All-State Orchestra and the St. Louis Metro District 8 High School Orchestra, where he served as the principal cellist. He also plays chamber music within the Preparatory Program at the Community Music School of Webster University during the school year and throughout the Arianna Chamber Music Festival and the Credo St. Louis Music Festival over the summer. In the spring of 2023, Brody was honored to receive the National School Orchestra Award. He was also named a Rader Young Artist for 2023/2024 by the Chamber Music Society of St. Louis.
Aside from music, Brody stays active by swimming, running, and rowing crew with the Saint Louis Rowing Club. He also has a passion for mathematics and science and a love for learning!
Brody is deeply thankful for the guidance and encouragement of his many musical teachers and mentors, who have played an instrumental role in his development as a musician. He is also grateful to his parents and brothers for their unwavering support.
