Ellie Heavner

Ellie Heavner is a junior at Fort Zumwalt North High school and joined the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra in 2026. She has been playing the oboe since 2025 and studies under Christine Janota-Koets.  

Heavner has participated in the Missouri Music Educators Association’s Metro 8 festival, performing as second chair oboe in 2025. She has participated in the Mid America Music Festival, receiving perfect scores on oboe as well as violin, and was also named outstanding young performer. Heavner plays oboe for the St. Charles County Youth Orchestra’s Symphony ensemble and is first chair in her school band. She received a gold rating at State Solo and Ensemble on her oboe solo and alto saxophone solo in 2025.  

Having always been passionate about music, Heavner started playing the violin in 2021. She then had the opportunity to grow through participating in Fort Zumwalt North’s jazz ensemble on piano and concert band on oboe under the direction of Matthew Schultz and Patrick Stewart. Heavner has now expanded her musical experience to participate as one of 4 drum majors in the Panther Pride marching band for the 2026 season.  

In her free time, Heavner loves to hang out with friends and family, play video games, and spend time with her tuxedo cat, Louise. She is thankful to her family for their support and Ms. Janota-Koets for always believing in her abilities.
