Parkway South High School

Haley Parks is a senior at Parkway South High School, and she is excited to start her first season with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Haley has been studying the flute for nine years, though she has also enjoyed learning several different instruments ranging from the piccolo to the double bass.  She has had the opportunity to perform in many ensembles including the Missouri All-State Band, the SLSMEA All-Suburban Honor Band, and the Bi-State Festival as principal flute.  Haley has also placed top three in the 2023 FSSL Young Artist Solo Competition and founded her high school’s chapter of the Tri-M National Music Honor Society, where she currently serves as her school’s Tri-M President.

Outside of music Haley is interested in the field of computer science, where she participates in projects and courses that further her programming skills.  She also loves photography and spending time with her two German shepherds.

Finally, Haley would like to thank her private instructor Dr. Wendy Hymes for her guidance and support, her past and present band directors Keely Abeln, Lisa Kinworthy, and Matthew Wall, and her family for always encouraging her musical ambitions.
