Portrait of Joseph Viviano

Youth Orchestra

Joseph Viviano

Hazelwood West High School

Joseph is a 17-year-old Senior that goes to Hazelwood West High School. He first started in fourth grade playing tenor trombone and now plays tenor/bass trombone and baritone in and outside of school. He is very ecstatic about getting the bass trombone position and is looking forward to his first season with the Saint Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Some of his favoite musical related memories are playing in the Missouri-All-State Band and Jazz Band, and playing a trombone solo for the 2022/2023 State Solo and Ensemble competition. Another favorite memory was traveling to the 2022 International Trombone Festival where he met professional musicians in person and got to play a contrabass trombone for the first time. He also participates in his school’s symphonic band, jazz band, and marching band.

Some of his other interests are instrument repair, learning jazz tunes on piano, soccer, coin roll hunting, and hanging out with his friends at local parks.

Joseph would like to thank Eddie Clark, Jamie Burchett, Doug Bert, and his band director Aaron Jackson for helping him become the best musician he can possibly be.
