Youth Orchestra
Luci Klingensmith
Luci Klingensmith is a senior at Edwardsville High School. This will be her first year as a member of the Saint Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.
Luci has been playing the oboe for 8 years and adores its capacity for expression and musicality. Besides her passion for oboe, Luci also enjoys playing piano, alto saxophone, ukulele, and english horn. She participates in her school symphonic band as principal oboe, marching band as a saxophone, and pit orchestra as an oboe/english horn. Additionally, she sings for her school’s highest-level chamber chorus. Luci has been honored as an ILMEA All-District musician several times, and most recently was selected to play oboe in the 2024 ILMEA All-State Orchestra.
Luci’s interests outside of music include her FTC robotics team, for which she has been honored with a state-wide individual award. She is also a member of her local library’s teen advisory board, the Vice President of her school’s chapter of Tri-M Music Honor Society, an officer for her school’s Environmental Club, and a member of National Honor Society. Luci plans to pursue environmental/sustainability studies as well as music in college.
Luci is very grateful for all her music teachers, including school band directors Ryan Libscomb and Dean Anderson, school chorus director Emily Ottwein, school pit orchestra conductor Cathy Vano, and private oboe instructor Curtis Sellers. She would also like to thank her parents and other family members and friends for their support in her musical pursuits.
