Mia Swope

Mia Swope is a senior in high school and plays the oboe. She attends Hickman High School in Columbia Missouri, and this is her second year in the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. 

Swope attributes her growth and development as a musician to playing in her school’s ensemble and her experience playing in other bands such as her district’s band in 2022 and 2023 and the Missouri All State Band in 2024. She is always inspired and captivated by watching orchestra performances. She is excited to continue her journey with the SLSYO. Along with playing the oboe, Swope also plays piano and participates in her school’s marching band, while also enjoying dance as a hobby. 

Swope is thankful for her private lesson teacher Dan Willett, for his excellent guidance and encouragement. She would also like to thank her Band directors Tom Sweeney and Denis Swope for the great support they provide for her and many other students.
