Riley Cannon
Riley Cannon is a senior attending Triad High School in Troy, Illinois, and is a returning member of the Saint Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. As a returning member, this is Cannon’s second season as a full-time musician, and third season as a member.
Cannon has been playing bass clarinet for four years and clarinet for three years. In his time as a YO member, Cannon has played soprano clarinet, bass clarinet, Eb clarinet, and solo alto saxophone. Outside of the YO, Cannon plays alto saxophone in the Triad High School jazz band, is a clarinetist in the Troy Community Band, a reed player for the Looking Glass Playhouse Pit Orchestra, and a bass clarinetist in the Triad High School clarinet choir. Cannon has participated in the IMEC music festival as the fourth chair bass clarinetist (2024) and ninth chair clarinetist (2025). At Triad, Cannon plays in the wind ensemble and is a drum major for the marching band. Cannon has been taking clarinet lessons under Caren Vittetoe for two years. In December of 2024, Cannon was selected to perform alongside the prestigious “President’s Own” Marine Band in Washington D.C. with the competitive Equity Arc Wind Symphony. In December 2023, Cannon performed as a baritone in the high school choir for the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra’s “Home Alone: In Concert”. Cannon is a frequent soloist in Triad’s all-male vocal group, VoiceMale.
Outside of music, Cannon enjoys caring for plants, collecting vinyl records, and being on the Triad math team.
