Riley Cannon

Alternate
Triad High School

Riley Cannon is a sophomore attending Triad High School in Troy, Illinois, and is a new addition to the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra as a bass clarinetist.  Riley has been playing bass clarinet for two years and clarinet for one year.  In addition to clarinet and bass clarinet, Riley has also played alto saxophone in the Triad High School jazz band for one year.  Outside of music, Riley enjoys doing Model UN and being on the Triad math team.

Riley has participated in the ILMEA District 6 band as the fourth chair bass clarinetist and participated in the Mississippi Valley Conference Music Festival.  He also played for one year with the Saint Louis Youth Wind Symphony as a bass clarinetist.  At Triad, Riley plays in the wind ensemble and is a section leader for the marching band.  Riley has been taking clarinet lessons under Caren Vittetoe for less than a year.

Riley would like to thank Mr. Carter of the Triad Middle School band and Mr. Devany of the Triad High School band for making it easy for him to start band later than most and learn quickly.  He would also like to thank his clarinet teacher, Mrs. Vittetoe, for enhancing his learning and pushing him to improve for the past three months.  Riley thanks his parents for being open and supportive of him learning the bass clarinet.  Finally, Riley would also like to thank Peyton Anderson of Triad High School for introducing him to the bass clarinet and Noah Bonner for being a hardworking and quickly improving bass clarinetist at Triad.
