Youth Orchestra
Thomas McGrath
Thomas, age 20, is excited to start his second year at the St Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra after a great first year. A junior at Washington University in St Louis, he is majoring in art history. Music has always been a vital part of his life, ever since he started cello at age 5. He switched to the horn at 12 years old. Thomas grew up in Columbia, Missouri before moving to New Jersey during high school. He loves playing in orchestras and has participated in youth orchestras such as the New Jersey All-State Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, and the New Jersey Youth Symphony. He is currently a member of the Washington University Symphony Orchestra.
Thomas also enjoys traveling and is a big tennis fan. He likes to listen to classical music during his free time, especially Bruckner, Tchaikovsky, and Dvorak and would like to thank his parents and his music teachers Bruce Gordon, Marcia Spence, and Kathy Mehrtens on his journey as a horn player.
