William Carson

Alternate
Grand Center Arts Academy

William Carson is a seventeen-year-old multi-instrumentalist who is a senior at Grand Center Arts Academy, and is excited to start his first season with the Saint Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra as an alternate.

William has been playing the flute since he was 14, though he has been learning a plethora of different instruments since he was very young, such as his main instrument, the guitar, drum set, banjo, bass, cello, and synthesizer. He has been studying flute under the instruction of Ann Choomack since November 2023. William has been a member of the JazzU program at Jazz St. Louis since his sophomore year and has also played flute in the Des Lee Honor Band and the JeffCo Honor band.

He has also played in many other groups and programs and received instruction on his other instruments.

William enjoys writing and composing music and as of writing this, has released three singles on Spotify, Apple Music, and other platforms. Outside of music, he is a major tea enthusiast who also enjoys baking and playing Magic the Gathering.

William would like to thank his flute instructor, Ann Choomack,  and other previous mentors, Jennifer Humphries, Nick Ayala, and Matt Lesch, his band director, Stephenie Grasso, and his family for all their support.
