A new and inviting entrance to Powell Hall has begun to take shape on the north side of the building facing Delmar Blvd. Crews began selective demolition in preparation for the construction of a new, accessible entrance with a metal canopy. Later in the project, the sidewalk near Delmar and Grand Ave. will be extended and new landscaping added, making the North Entry a beautiful, accessible, safe, and functional entrance to the existing building, just steps from the concert hall.

Part of the SLSO’s strategic priorities for the project, the new entrance is one of four openings to the venue in every direction, designed to create a feeling of welcoming to all parts of the community. The new North Entry will replace a previous smaller entrance near the stage that was infrequently used and inaccessible to those with mobility needs.
