SLSO Musicians in the Community

Where people live, learn, play, reflect and heal

Musicians of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra are an integral part of the community, sharing the gift of music with tens of thousands of people each year through free community and education programs. For every concert we produce at Powell Hall, our musicians present an average of 2½ free activities and programs in schools, hospitals, parks and other public spaces throughout the region.

This outreach includes SLSO musician residencies in classrooms through Symphony In Your Schoolperformances in hospitals and nursing homes through SymphonyCaresour flagship SLSO IN UNISON diversity program in partnership with 40+ primarily African American churches, and our deepening connection with St. Louis’ immigrant/refugee population through Music Without BoundariesWe also present a variety of free community chamber concerts through Symphony In The City, Symphony In Your Neighborhood, Symphony In Your College, and Symphony Where You Worship.

For accomplished student musicians, the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra offers the opportunity to rehearse and perform with peers of equal musical accomplishment from areas as far away as Rolla, MO and Carbondale, IL.

Join our Mission

Although the SLSO’s Community and Education programs are free of charge to our partners and audiences, they are not free for us to produce. Join our mission today so that musicians from the STL Symphony can continue to make a difference – both on and off the stage of Powell Hall. Thank you for your support!
