Our Mission and Values
Welcome to the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. We believe music is a universal language—the shortest path from one heart to another—and we’re honored to share its power with you.
Our mission is to enrich lives through the power of music. We’re committed to connecting with audiences in meaningful ways, pursuing musical exploration, and fostering a sense of belonging within our community. Our music guides the symphony experience, with education and learning at our core. Above all, we cultivate a collaborative culture where everyone belongs, is valued for their uniqueness, and has meaningful access to our musical experiences.
Community Values Statement
We’re dedicated to fostering a community where everyone feels welcome and is treated with dignity and respect. We strive to achieve this by:
- Celebrating our differences. We embrace the uniqueness of every individual and foster a sense of belonging free from prejudice, harassment, and harm.
- Treating each other with kindness. Sensitivity, understanding, and consideration guide our interactions, ensuring everyone feels respected.
- Sharing passion for music. This is a judgment-free space to experience music authentically, while remaining mindful of those around you.
- Maintaining a safe and respectful environment. We do not tolerate harassment of any kind. If you experience or witness any form of threatening or hostile behavior, please inform an usher or staff member. You may also contact us at hospitality@slso.org.
Together, we create a vibrant and uplifting experience for all.
Our Commitment to Belonging
At the SLSO, we champion belonging for all stakeholders. Through the music we bring to the stage, our recruitment and support of our talented team, and how we connect with our broader community, our goal is to make music inclusive and accessible to all.
