St. Louis Symphony Orchestra announces soloist change, welcoming violinist Francesca Dego in her SLSO debut with Brahms’ Violin Concerto, April 11-13

(March 12, 2025, St. Louis, MO) – Internationally acclaimed violinist Francesca Dego will make her debut with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra on April 11-13, performing Johannes Brahms’ Violin Concerto with conductor John Storgårds. The program also includes Jean Sibelius’ Lemminkäinen Suite. Dego replaces violinist Christian Tetzlaff, who was scheduled to perform the same concerto on the program.

Dego has performed with some of the top orchestras in the US and around the world, including the London Symphony Orchestra, NHK Symphony Orchestra (Tokyo), Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony, London Philharmonic, and Swedish Radio Symphony. With a growing discography, her most recent recording of the violin concertos of Busoni and Brahms with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and conductor Dalia Stasevska was released in March 2024, for which she was awarded the prestigious Franco Abbiati Prize. Her recordings of the complete Mozart violin concertos with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra conducted by Sir Roger Norrington received unanimous critical acclaim, including the BBC Music Magazine five star Record of the Month.

Dego’s SLSO debut will take place at the Touhill Performing Arts Center at the University of Missouri–St. Louis. Concerts are 10:30am Friday, April 11; 7:30pm, Saturday, April 12; and 3:00pm, Sunday, April 13.

In a statement from his management, Tetzlaff “looks forward to performing with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra in the future.”
