-
- Founded in 1976 by Music Director Jerzy Semkow, the St. Louis Symphony Chorus is an equal partner with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra in performing choral orchestral music at the highest artistic level. Singers of all ages and varied backgrounds come from throughout the St. Louis region to rehearse and perform with the orchestra several times each season.
- Throughout its history, the Chorus has performed repertoire in many styles and languages, including beloved choral-orchestral standards like G.F. Handel’s Messiah, Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, and requiems by Johannes Brahms, Giuseppe Verdi, and W.A. Mozart; 20th-century music by Györgi Ligeti and Igor Stravinsky; and newer masterpieces by John Adams, Reena Esmail, Kevin Puts, and more.
- In the 26/27 season, the St. Louis Symphony Chorus takes part in the following classical concerts: Shostakovich’s Eighth (Nov 14–15), performing Mendelssohn’s Psalm 114 and Stravinsky’s Symphony of Psalms; Ravel and Poulenc (Feb 12–13); Haydn and Ortiz (Mar 20–21); and Mahler’s Third (May 7 & 9). During the holiday season, the SLSC performs in The Muppet Christmas Carol in Concert (Dec–13) and Mercy Holiday Celebration at Lindenwood University (Dec 17) and Powell Hall (Dec 18–20).
