Andrew Gott
Prior to taking the position of Associate Principal Bassoon of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra in 2006, Andrew Gott was the Principal Bassoon of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra under the baton of JoAnn Falletta. He has also played Principal Bassoon with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Woodlands Symphony Orchestra. He has attended numerous music festivals both domestic and abroad including Tanglewood, National Repertory Orchestra, Jerusalem International Symphony Orchestra, Aspen, Sarasota, Domain Forget, Kent Blossom, and the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. An active chamber musician, Gott has played in the Innsbrook Institute Music Festival, Norfolk Chamber Consort, and the Virginia Arts Festival. He has served on the faculty at the Governor’s School for the Arts, Old Dominion University, Christopher Newport University, and Ball State Bassoon Camp and currently teaches bassoon at Washington University.
Gott received his Bachelor of Music from Ball State University and his Master of Music from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University. His principal teachers were Keith Sweger and Ben Kamins. In his free time, he enjoys playing board games, accordion, piano, and spending time with his family. He was born and raised in Bolivar, Missouri.
