Avery Ray

Avery Ray is a 14-year-old freshman at Hazelwood West High School and is excited for her first season with the Saint Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. Although Ray only started playing the double bass 3 years ago, she has had opportunities to play in many musical ensembles, including the Community Music School of Webster University’s Young People’s Concert Orchestra, as well as the Missouri Music Educators Association’s St. Louis Suburban District 5 Middle School Honors Orchestra where she led the section as principal. 

Outside of playing the double bass, Ray enjoys playing sports such as Volleyball and competitive swimming, doing crafts, and spending time with her family and friends. 

Ray would like to thank her family and friends for their encouragement, as well as her teachers Beth Schmiedeke, Linnea Johansen and James McKay for supporting her journey and pushing her to succeed.
