Matthew Hogan

Fort Zumwalt South High School

Matthew Hogan is 15 years old and is a sophomore at Fort Zumwalt South High School where he is a member of their Wind Ensemble. This will be his first year in the YO. He has been playing bassoon since 7th grade. 

Hogan has participated in Metro 8 twice during his musical career, first in 7th grade and again in 9th grade. Hogan has also performed at the Solo and Small Ensemble contest where he was awarded a gold rating. Hogan has also played bassoon for other St. Louis based youth ensembles such as the St. Louis Wind Symphony Youth Ensemble and the Saint Charles County Youth Symphony. Additionally, he has also played for Saint Charles Community College where he had the opportunity to play solos in several notable works such as Tchaikovsky’s second symphony and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade.
