Will Blackmore

Webster University

Will Blackmore is a St. Louis area flautist in his final year of music school at Webster University. He studies with Dr. Jennifer Gartley and would like to thank her for her continued direction and support. Will has enjoyed playing the flute for over a decade and has since learned several other instruments such as alto and baritone saxophone and the piccolo.

Will is a graduate of Kirkwood High School pursuing a dual degree in Music and Business Administration from Webster University. At Solo and Ensemble Festival, he received the Missouri State Gold Award given to high school musicians whose performance is musically and artistically exemplary in all aspects. Currently, he performs with the Webster University Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. He made his solo orchestral debut, performing Mozart’s First Flute Concerto in G Major as a winner of the 2023-2024 Webster University Concerto/Aria Competition. Will’s high level of achievement and potential as a professional musician have been recognized through his receipt of the Allen Carl Larson Endowed Scholarship of Instrumental Studies and by the Buder Foundation Music Studies Grant. Will has also played in masterclasses with St. Louis Symphony piccolo Ann Choomack and former principal flautist Matthew Roitstein.

Will is a fierce advocate for new composers and music, debuting works by his peers Nolan Gregorio, Katy Boykin, Zazzlyn Hall, Mika Weston, Zachary Gray, and Abram Wilson. Will continues to advocate for the diversity in music through performance and rehearsal of works from composers of all backgrounds. He believes music should be an all-inclusive space for everyone’s voice to be heard, whether that is through the performance or writing of music.
