St. Louis Symphony Orchestra musicians invite community to free concert at 370 Lakeside Park in St. Peters, June 8

Program celebrates 250th anniversary of the founding of the country and concludes with a community-wide play- and sing-along to “America the Beautiful”

(May 20, 2026, St. Louis, MO) – On Monday, June 8, musicians from the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra will present a free community concert celebrating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the country at 370 Lakeside Park in St. Peters. The concert begins at 7:30pm. No tickets are required, but RSVPs are requested by visiting slso.org.

Samuel Hollister, SLSO Assistant Conductor, leads this festive outdoor concert that traces America’s history through its 250 years. Highlights include music by American composers Aaron Copland and George Walker, and a performance of Jay Ungar’s Ashokan Farewell, famously used as the title theme in the celebrated Ken Burns documentary miniseries, The Civil War. The hourlong concert concludes with a community-wide performance of “America the Beautiful,” with attendees invited to play alongside SLSO musicians. Beginner and intermediate instrumental parts, as well as song lyrics, are available to download at slso.org. In the event of rain, the concert will move to the St. Charles City-County Library Spencer Road Branch (427 Spencer Road, St. Peters).

This SLSO community concert has become an annual early summer tradition, drawing thousands of visitors to 370 Lakeside Park for a free night of music since 2022. The concerts have been presented in partnership with the St. Charles City-County Library Foundation and the City of St. Peters since then. A full concert calendar is available at slso.org or on the SLSO’s mobile app available for iOS or Android.
