About this Concert

Celebrate the magic of the season with Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the entire Peanuts gang in A Charlie Brown Christmas: Live on Stage. Adapted from Charles M. Schulz’s beloved Emmy and Peabody Award–winning animated television special, this live production with actors and a three-piece band captures all the humor and holiday spirit of the original. Follow Charlie Brown as he searches for the true meaning of Christmas, with help from his friends, all set to the timeless music of Vince Guaraldi. Experience a Peanuts classic this season—a perfect present for the whole family to enjoy.

Note: This is a Powell Hall Presents concert. The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra does not perform at this event.

- When A Charlie Brown Christmas debuted in 1965, producer Lee Mendelson chose jazz pianist Vince Guaraldi to create a sound unlike the usual holiday specials. The result helped bring jazz into living rooms across America.
- Vince Guaraldi’s “Linus and Lucy,” first recorded before the Christmas special, became so closely associated with Peanuts that its lively piano rhythms are now practically the musical signature of Charlie Brown and the gang.
- A Charlie Brown Christmas has become one of the most enduring jazz holiday albums, with its blend of bluesy piano, walking bass, and delicate drumming offering a refreshing alternative to traditional orchestral Christmas music.
