Matthew Hogan

Matthew Hogan is a 16-year-old sophomore at Fort Zumwalt South High School. He is returning for his second season playing bassoon with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.  

Hogan has been playing bassoon for four years and enjoys sharing his music with the local community. When he is not performing with his school’s Wind Ensemble, he stays involved with several other local groups. Over the years, he has played with the St. Louis Youth Wind Symphony, the St. Charles County Youth Symphony, and the Saint Charles Community College Orchestra. A major highlight of his musical journey so far has been taking on prominent bassoon solos. He particularly enjoyed performing the well-known and challenging passages from Tchaikovsky’s Second Symphony and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade.  

Hogan looks forward to another season of collaborating and making music with his fellow musicians in the YO.
