Ethan Rahmoeller

Ethan Rahmoeller is a Senior at Webster Groves High School (WGHS). Apart from the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra, he has been active in Webster’s Wind Symphony and Woodwind Ensemble as well as the Young Peoples Concert Orchestra at the Community Music School (CMS) of Webster University. Rahmoeller has spent the last year and a half learning and perfecting his skills on the bassoon as a student of Dr. Eric Ring at Webster University through CMS.  

Beyond playing bassoon, Rahmoeller is a talented saxophone player, having participated for three years in the Webster University Jazz Collective under the direction of Nick Savage, All Suburban Jazz Band, and one year in the WGHS Jazz Band with Kevin Cole. He also enjoys composing his own music for both jazz and classical settings, preferring the atypical big band, symphony, and small ensembles for their unique harmonies and tonal qualities. Rahmoeller enjoys the challenge of writing for instruments who may not always fit together or don’t usually fit into a certain genre, for it brings him comfort and relaxation.  

Rahmoeller would like to thank his teachers Tom Schwartz, Drew Mahacek, Emily Tokos, Joe Stevinson, Kevin Cole, Jill Young, Ian Buschmann, Nicholas Savage, Dr. Bennett Wood, John Thomas, and Dr. Eric Ring for helping him develop and expand his musical knowledge and career. He would also like to thank his grandparents and parents for always encouraging him to pursue his passions, especially when it brings him much joy.
