Kali Ann Russell

Kali Ann Russell is a junior at Pattonville High School and is excited to for her first season with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. She began her music journey at age six with the piano before exploring several string instruments and ultimately finding her true passion for the flute in sixth grade.   

Since then, Russell has earned selection to the St. Louis All-Suburban Concert Band in both seventh and eighth grade and has received multiple gold ratings at the Solo and Ensemble Festival throughout middle and high school. This past year, she was named first alternate flute and first alternate piccolo for the All-Suburban Concert Band and earned Honorable Mention the Missouri All-State Band on flute. 

Russell serves as the principal flute and piccolo player for the St. Charles County Youth Orchestra and is the principal flutist of the Pattonville High School Wind Ensemble.  She also performed as a featured soloist with the Pattonville High School Marching Band’s 2025 show, helping the program earn first-place finishes at multiple competitions.  Additionally, Russell participated in the Mike Russo Concerto Competition with the St. Charles County Youth Orchestra, performing Mozart’s Flute Concerto No. 2 in D Major. 

Russell would like to thank her middle school music directors, Adam Hall and Steve White; her high school directors, Jacob Bubb, Anna White, and Laura Livesay; and her private instructor, Maggie McCallie, for their guidance and encouragement. She would also like to thank her friends and family for their support throughout her musical journey.
