Khloe Furnace

Khloe is an eighth grader at Principia Middle school. This is her second year in Peer to Peer and says, “I have found participating in Peer to Peer to be very fun. It has helped me improve a lot.” Khloe has played the cello for about three years. Khloe chose the cello because when she was younger, she wanted to play a big instrument. She decided double bass was too big and went with cello instead. She has loved the cello ever since! Khloe enjoys the varied low and high sounds the cello can make, as well as learning new things she can play on it. Khloe intends to continue to play the cello as a hobby when she grows up. Khloe wants to be a professional athlete and compete in discus and shotput. Fun fact: Khloe has competed in the All-American AAU Junior Olympic Games in 2023 for discus! She also loves working with kids at her grandfather’s daycare.

Recent Graduates

Mitchell Beckum-Herron

Mitchell is a graduate of Hazelwood West High School. He has been playing cello for eight years and participated in Peer to Peer for a total of two years. One of his favorite things about cello is its unique range. The lower strings contain a deep, rich sound while the higher strings help the instrument to resemble a beautiful singing voice. It’s very fun to be able to fill multiple roles in an ensemble! Mitchell attends the University of Missouri – St. Louis and plans to continue playing while learning more about music theory and composition. Mitchell is also passionate about learning new languages. He has been studying Spanish for five years, Japanese for two, and picked up German this past school year. He also likes to draw, read, and write in his free time.

One fun fact about MaKayla is that she enjoys participating in archery.
