Youth Orchestra
Aidan Sawyer
After years of watching them in concert and admiring the ensemble’s impressive musicianship, Aidan Sawyer is a first-year trumpet player in the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. Residing in O’Fallon, Illinois, Sawyer began playing the trumpet in 5th grade with inspiration from his grandfather. He brought this passion with him all the way through high school, finishing senior year as the principal player of the O’Fallon Township High School Wind Ensemble and the lead player of the OTHS Early Bird Jazz Band.
Outside of school, Sawyer was a frequent participant in Illinois Music Education Association festivals, playing principal for the 2023 District 6 Senior Band and the 2024 District 6 Senior Orchestra as well as lead for the 2024 District 6 Senior Jazz Band I. To end his time participating in ILMEA events, Sawyer played principal trumpet for the 2025 ILMEA All-State Orchestra. Most recently, he performed as a lead trumpet in the 2025 Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps, an elite world class ensemble and founding member of Drum Corps International.
Aside from playing the trumpet, Sawyer has over a decade of piano experience and loves to play video games and write music. He is incredibly thrilled to be a part of the YO for the 2025-2026 season and excited to have more experience in orchestral playing. He would like to thank his dad, mom, stepmom, grandparents, siblings, and friends and mentors from O’Fallon Township High School.
