Lukas Boone

Lukas Boone, 17, is a senior at Springfield High School in Springfield, Illinois, and is beginning his second year as a member of the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. He has been playing French horn for seven years and also performs in various ensembles on mellophone, trombone, bass trombone, trumpet, and guitar. 

Boone is an active member of his high school’s marching and concert bands and has had the honor of performing in the ILMEA All-District Band, Orchestra, and Senior Jazz festivals. He currently serves as principal horn with the Illinois Symphony Youth Orchestra and is a member of the Springfield Municipal Band. 

While music is Boone’s passion, he also enjoys giving back to his community. He is a member of the National Honor Society and JROTC Color Guard and values the opportunities he has to serve and support others. 

Boone would like to express his sincere appreciation to his instructors – Thomas Jöstlein, Lindsey Daniels, and Jacobsen Woollen – for their guidance, encouragement, and continued support. He also extends a special thank-you to his parents, extended family, friends, and mentors, Dr. Terrance Jordan and SFC (Ret.) Marcell Upshaw, for their unwavering encouragement and support throughout his musical journey.
