Linnea Byers

Linnea Byers is a senior at Webster Groves High School and is in her first season with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. Byers comes from a musical family and began taking piano lessons at four years old. She grew up attending her grandfather’s band concerts every summer and found her love for the trumpet when he taught her to play at eleven years old.  

Byers is grateful for her opportunity to have studied with Dan Smith for two years at the Community Music School of Webster University. She participates in JazzU at Jazz St. Louis, is the lead trumpet of her high school jazz band, and earned gold ratings at the State Solo and Ensemble Contest for trumpet solo and brass quintet. One of her favorite musical experiences was travelling to Italy with her high school band in the spring of 2025.  

Outside of music, Byers enjoys travelling, playing sports, and spending time with friends and family. Next year, she plans to continue her musical journey by studying music education in college. Byers would like to thank Greg Fox, Cherstin Byers, Dan Smith, Kevin Cole, and Jill Young for supporting her musical journey and being encouraging, inspirational figures in her life.
