St. Louis University High School

Edmund Reske is a 16-year-old junior at St. Louis University High School (SLUH). He has been playing trombone for more than five years, currently studying with Amanda Stewart of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. He previously studied with Tyler Vahldick. This is his first year in the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Reske plays in SLUH’s symphonic band, jazz band, and pep band. He has auditioned for and received spots in multiple district and state honors ensembles, including winning first chair in the 2025 Missouri All-State Orchestra. He has also received a gold rating multiple times in the district and state-level MHSAA Solo-Ensemble Competition. Reske attended the Rafael Méndez Brass Institute in Denver, CO during summer 2025. He also studies piano with Donna Vince of Webster University. Outside of playing trombone, Reske runs cross country and track, and loves fishing and hiking, among many other outdoor activities.

Reske would like to thank his family, along with Mr. Jeff Pottinger, Mr. Thomas Curdt, Mr. Vahldick, Mr. Matthew Janssen, and Ms. Vince for their continued support of his musical journey. He would especially like to thank Ms. Stewart for her dedication and invaluable instruction.
