Joy Shin

Parkway West High School

Joy Shin is a junior at Parkway West High School and is currently in her third year with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. She has been playing the viola for seven years and has participated in various programs, including the Young People’s Symphonic Orchestra and the Preparatory Program at Webster University’s Community Music School, as well as the St. Louis Symphony’s Peer-to-Peer program. She has been a member of the Missouri All-State Orchestra for the past two years, serving as assistant principal both years.  

Shin has spent her summers studying and performing at Credo St. Louis and the Addicott Chamber Music Festival. At school, she is a member of the Symphonic Orchestra and co-founded the Chamber Music Club.  

Outside of music, she enShins staying active; she serves as a team captain of the girls’ cross-country team and also runs track. Additionally, she plays piano for her church’s morning services. Shin is deeply grateful to her family, friends, and her teacher, Rebecca Pantano, for their love and strong support.
