Youth Orchestra
Ian Jenkins
Ian Jenkins, 16, is currently a junior at Ladue High School. He is honored and thrilled to be invited back for his second season with the Saint Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.
Jenkins first picked up the viola at age 7 under the guidance of Eliana Haig. After training with Ingrid Popp for two years, he has been studying with Joanna Mendoza since the summer of 2025. In addition to the viola, Jenkins studied piano under the guidance of Sunghee Hinners for six years before stopping two years ago. Prior to joining the YO, Jenkins played with the Webster University Community Music School’s Young People’s Concert Orchestra and Preparatory Program. Over the past year, he has tutored aspiring violinists and violists through school and community programs.
Outside of playing the viola, Jenkins enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing tennis, and reading. Jenkins would like to extend his gratitude to his friends, family, and teachers for their unwavering encouragement and support.
