Youth Orchestra

Elsa Heaton

Home Educated

Elsa is 13 and will be in 8th grade this fall. She is home educated and also a student at Memoria Academy, an online Christian school. She is looking forward to her second season with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra!

Starting violin lessons at the age of 4, she participated in the Suzuki Strings program of the Community Music School of Webster University. Also at the CMS, she played in the String Ensemble and the Young People’s Concert Orchestra. This fall, she will begin studies with SLSO Assistant Concertmaster, Hannah Ji.

In addition to the violin, she loves to play the piano and is thankful for her wonderful teacher, Vera Parkin. Aside from music, she enjoys drawing, playing golf, reading, and designing dollhouses with her older sister, Sophia.

Elsa is grateful for all her music teachers, both past and present. She would especially like to thank Angie Smart for her excellent teaching and mentorship. It was a privilege to study with her for several years. She is also blessed to have parents and grandparents who support and encourage her music education. Above all, she gives thanks to God, and seeks to glorify Him in all her endeavors.
