Jaylin Freeman

Jaylin Freeman is a senior at Eureka High School and is thrilled to work with many talented musicians for his first season with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.  

Freeman first picked up the violin before kindergarten but began studying seriously in the sixth grade. Since then, Freeman has participated in numerous ensembles within the St. Louis area, including multiple ensembles at the Community Music School of Webster University. Last year, they were selected to share the stage with the Arianna String Quartet through a semester with the University of Missouri, St. Louis orchestra. They also performed as concertmaster of the St. Louis All-Suburban orchestra and received honors from the Missouri All-State Orchestra. Beyond the violin, Freeman was placed into the College Board national recognition program for their exemplary performance on the AP Music Theory exam. 

At Eureka High, Freeman is the standing president of the orchestra student board. Furthermore, they have received multiple honors for their contributions to the Eureka High Speech & Debate team in their freshman and sophomore years. They are also a standing member of the Eureka Equity and Queer Alliance, working to strengthen diversity and inclusion. Outside of school, Freeman enjoys composing music, doing makeup art and drag, sketching, writing, and collecting jewelry.
