Eric Chang

Alternate
John Burroughs School

Eric Chang is a rising 7th grader at John Burroughs School. This is his first year participating in the Saint Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.  Eric started playing the violin at the age of 5, learning with the Suzuki program, under the instruction of Mrs. Susan McDonald. He has been studying with Mr. Pavel Ilyashov for the past 3 years.

Eric has enjoyed playing through many orchestras at the Community Music School of Webster University, such as String Ensemble, String Orchestra, YPCO and YPSO.  He was the Concertmaster of YPCO in 2021-22, and a two-time state winner of the MMTA String Solo Competition 4-6th grade.

Eric is very grateful for all the support from his parents, brother, grandparents, his private teachers and all past conductors at CMS. Outside of music, Eric loves playing soccer and tennis, and enjoys reading and hanging out with his friends.
