Y. Elizabeth Hung
Elizabeth Hung is a senior at Ladue Horton Watkins High School. She began playing violin at the age of four and is entering her fourth season with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. Hung has performed with several orchestras, including the ensembles at Webster University’s Community Music School (CMS) and the Missouri All-State Orchestra. Since 2021, she has also been a member of the Metropolitan Orchestra of St. Louis’ “Share the Stand” program. Hung was the 2026 Missouri Federation of Music Clubs State Concerto Winner in the Strings Division.
In addition to her orchestral experience, Hung has performed in various chamber music groups through the CMS Preparatory Program and the St. Louis Chamber Music Society’s Chamber Academy. During the summer, she has participated in programs including Point Counterpoint, Credo National Festival, and the Arianna Chamber Music Festival, working with mentors such as Peter Slowik and the Arianna String Quartet.
Outside of violin, Hung enjoys drawing, ice skating, watching K-dramas, traveling, and spending time with friends. She is also learning the erhu and performs with the St. Louis Traditional Chinese Music Ensemble.
Hung would like to thank her teachers, past and present: Nora Teipen, Joe Kaminsky, Erin Schreiber, and high school orchestra director Sarah Heuermann. She is especially grateful to her family for their unwavering support throughout her musical journey.
