Paul Schultz
Paul Schultz is a 17-year-old senior at Westminster Christian Academy and is excited to be a member of the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra for his first season. Schultz grew up with a musical background, first taking cello lessons 13 years ago at the Community Music School of Webster University (CMS). Recently, he participated in CMS’s Preparatory Program where he got the unique experience of performing in a flute trio. Since starting high school, Schultz has enjoyed success at the Missouri State High School Activities Association’s Solo and Small Ensemble Festival where he has received numerous exemplary ratings. He also plays often for his church and contributes as a member of his school’s chapel band.
Outside of school, Schultz cherishes time with his friends, jamming out on their respective instruments, swimming in local creeks, and playing pickleball. He also loves fishing and attending country music concerts with his father.
Schultz would like to thank his cello teacher Tara Santiago for challenging him to grow and instilling in him not only an extensive musical education but also a deep love of the cello. Additional thanks go to Mrs. Fields, his elementary school music teacher, Mr. Kim, the director of Westminster’s chapel band, and of course his mother, who served as his musical inspiration and practice parent for as long as he can remember.
