Youth Orchestra
Max Shuang
Max Shuang is a sophomore at Clayton High School and studies with Mr. Pavel Ilyashov. He began playing the violin in the fourth grade with his school’s orchestra program. Before joining the Saint Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra, he played in the Community Music School’s Young People’s Concert and Symphonic Orchestras at Webster University, the Parkway Community Orchestra, and his school’s Symphonic Orchestra.
Shuang also deeply enjoys composing music aside from playing the violin. He has studied with Dr. Stefan Freund and Dr. Utku Asuroglu at Mizzou’s School of Music, and has primarily composed full-orchestra, chamber ensemble, and piano repertoire. In his free time, Shuang enjoys meteorology, rowing, and digital photography.
Shuang would like to thank all his teachers, family, Pavel Ilyashov, Dr. Monica Holy, Daniel Henderson, and Jeanne Sinquefield for helping shape his musical journey.
