Sophia O’Shea

Sophia O’Shea is a sophomore at St. Dominic High School and has studied violin for 10 years under the instruction of Khrystyne Bunselmeyer. She has participated in masterclasses with Joyce Grabell, Renee Jolles, and Michael Casimir. O’Shea is a former member of the St. Charles County Youth Orchestra (SCCYO) and is currently a member of the Pre-College Strings (PCS) Chamber Conservatory.  

O’Shea is a Missouri Federation of Music Clubs (MFMC) scholarship recipient and has participated in the MFMC Festival for 10 years. During the summers, she has attended Credo St. Louis and the Colburn Summer Chamber Intensive. She toured with PCS at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in 2022 and the Eastman School of Music in 2026. O’Shea is a Solo & Ensemble Gold Award recipient and has placed in the SCCYO Concerto Competition.  

O’Shea is also a member of the Metro 8 District Orchestra and the St. Dominic Honors Concert Band under the direction of Greg Cissell. This is her first season with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.  

Outside of music, O’Shea plays club soccer, volunteers in her community, and enjoys reading. She would like to thank her parents and her private instructor, Mrs. Bunselmeyer, for their dedicated support and encouragement throughout her musical journey.
