Youth Orchestra
Ian Chung
Ian Chung is a 16 year-old junior at Parkway West High School. This is his second year participating in the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra as a violinist, and he is very excited for the opportunity to be a part of the YO along with many other talented musicians.
Last year, Chung received an honorable mention at the Missouri Music Teachers Association state-wide competition. For 2 years in a row, he has been a violinist for the Missouri All-State orchestra. In the past, he has also participated in chamber music programs such as the Preparatory Program at Community Music School of Webster University.
Chung currently studies with Pavel Ilyashov and is incredibly thankful for his dedication, passion, and hours of instruction and encouragement. Chung would also like to express his sincere gratitude to Sunghee Hinners, who taught him piano and music theory. He is also thankful for Rebecca Pantano, the former director of the Parkway West Middle School orchestras, who encouraged and supported his musical development, as well as Ed Sandheinrich, the director of the Parkway West High School Orchestras.
