Julia Melton
Julia Melton is a freshman at Kirkwood High School, and this is her second year as a member of the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.
Melton has been playing viola for 9 years and is currently a member of the Kirkwood High School Symphonic Orchestra. She has also served as principal violist of the St. Louis All-Suburban Honors Orchestra and assistant principal violist of the Community Music School of Webster University’s Young People’s Concert Orchestra. Additionally, Melton has participated in several summer orchestra and chamber music programs, including Credo St. Louis. She also plans to participate in the Chamber Academy at the Chamber Music Society of St. Louis. Aside from viola, Melton enjoys spending time with her friends and family, reading, writing, crocheting, and listening to music.
Melton would especially like to thank her teacher, Anna Lackschewitz, for her unwavering support and inspiration. She will begin studying with Joanna Mendoza in the near future. She would also like to thank her past teacher, Eliana Haig, Kirkwood orchestra director Fariga Drayton-Conway, and her family and friends for their continuous support.
