Youth Orchestra
Louis Shen
Louis Shen is a sophomore at Ladue Horton Watkins High School. He is honored to join the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra as an alternate violinist for the 2026–27 season.
Shen began studying the violin over four years ago and currently studies with St. Louis Symphony Orchestra violinist Xiaoxiao Qiang. He has performed with the Community Music School of Webster University’s (CMS) Young People’s Symphonic Orchestra and has participated in the CMS Preparatory program. He has also performed with the St. Louis All-Suburban Honors Orchestra and plays in his school’s symphonic orchestra. Shen enjoys exploring a wide range of classical repertoire and values the collaboration, discipline, and energy of orchestral performance.
Outside of music, Shen has a strong interest in mathematics, physics, and quantum science. He also enjoys basketball, badminton, and spending time with his family and friends.
