Youth Orchestra
Benji Chu
Benji Chu is a fourteen-year-old freshman at Clayton High School and is excited for his second season in the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra. Chu has been playing the violin since he was five years old and currently studies with Joo Kim. During the summer of 2025, Chu attended the Meadowmount School of Music where he studied with I-Hao Lee.
In addition to playing in the YO, Chu sings in the St. Louis Children’s Choir. He has had some wonderful professional experiences, including singing as a fairy in Opera Theatre of St. Louis’s 2024-2025 production of Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Last season, Chu performed as one of the Drei Knaben in the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra’s staged performance of Mozart’s The Magic Flute.
In his free time, Chu enjoys spending time with his family, including his older brother Apollo, younger sister Leia, and the family Corgi, Bowser.
