Alex Kim

Alex Kim is fourteen-year-old and a ninth-grade student at Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School (MICDS). Kim has studied the cello for nine years under the guidance of Tara Santiago and is performing with the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra for his first season. He has also performed with the Community Music School of Webster University’s Young People’s Concert Orchestra and the Young People’s Symphonic Orchestra. He is a current member of the MICDS Virtuosi ensemble. 

Kim enjoys performing a wide range of repertoire and especially appreciates the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and Edward Elgar, whose Cello Concerto is among his favorite works. Outside of music, he enjoys playing baseball, swimming, and learning about aviation. He hopes to pursue a career in engineering while continuing to make music throughout his life. 

Kim is grateful to Tara Santiago, and to his parents for their constant encouragement, guidance, and support throughout his musical journey.
